  • Meet Tony Eid, Chief Executive, State Transit

Tony Eid is joining the team at State Transit as Chief Executive.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

I’m looking forward to learning all about how the bus network operates, meeting and engaging with the staff and our customers.

What’s your biggest career achievement to date?

There are a few I could mention, but the one I would like to call out is constructing and commissioning the Rail Operations Centre at Green Square. It’s a purpose built, high-tech centre that brings together all the day-to-day operations from every directorate, maintenance and customer management. It’s provided us with new ways of working and customer-centric decision making when responding to incidents or operating the rail network.

    What was your last job?

My last role was in Sydney Trains. Executive Director, Future Network Delivery (FND).

FND manages the significant capital investment, program delivery and integration of critical transport infrastructure. This approach allows a single focus on key major projects to be delivered seamlessly with limited impact to our customers and the day-to-day operations. I led the team and worked very closely with other transport agencies such as Sydney Metro, RMS, STA and TfNSW to ensure strong collaboration and alignment.

  • Meet Jon Lamonte, Chief Executive, Sydney Metro, Greater Sydney

Jon Lamonte will continue to lead our successful team over at Sydney Metro.

What are the biggest opportunities for you and your team working in this new operating model?

Working with Greater Sydney colleagues to achieve better place outcomes for our customers as we continue to deliver new Metro lines.

What’s your biggest career achievement to date?

Opening the North West Metro line on time and well under budget.

What would you like to achieve in 2020?

To continue to deliver fantastic customer experience on North West Metro, to complete the tunnelling under Sydney Harbour for City and South West Metro, to get our early works underway for Metro West and move Metro Greater West on to the next stage.

What excites you most about your role and team?

We have one of the largest projects in public transport delivery in the world today. Working together, we can make a real difference to people’s lives and create new and vibrant places as part of Sydney’s growth as a major global city.

  • Meet Howard Collins, Chief Operations Officer, Greater Sydney

    supporting image

You’ve most likely seen him around Sydney Trains, but Howard’s now joining the Greater Sydney division in the new role of Chief Operations Officer.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

Meeting people, getting out and about, listening and understanding our new multi-modal organisation… and getting things done!

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

154,520 kms! That’s the number of rail kilometres I have travelled since I started in Transport in July 2013 – meeting a great deal of wonderful people along the way.

    What was your last job?

Sydney Trains, Chief Executive. The boss of the biggest vertically integrated rail organisation in Australia. A real people job with over 11,000 staff and 1.3 million customer journeys per day.

  • Meet Tracey Taylor, Executive Director, People and Culture Business Partnering, People and Culture

Tracey will support our leaders and people in her new role as Executive Director, People and Culture Business Partnering.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

I'm looking forward to the opportunity to redefine the way People & Culture supports our leaders and teams at every level of the organisation, and pushing us to keep putting people at the heart in all we do.

What’s your biggest career achievement to date?

I'd say the challenge of bringing our Future Transport vision from a strategy into a workable organisational structure has been a huge achievement. It shifts our thinking from being focused on separate modes to end-to-end journeys and from customers to communities and places. It's a great change to be a part of.

    What was your last job?

Director of People, TfNSW (since 2018).

Transport is my first public sector role. It's been a steep learning curve, but I do really love that we have such a clear and positive purpose. 'For the greater good' is not an empty catchphrase, it's at the core of why we do what we do every day and I'm very proud to be a part of that.

  • Meet Pete Church, Head of Rail Delivery, Infrastructure and Place

Pete’s ready to make a difference as our new Head of Rail Delivery.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

The people. There are a lot of folk out there who really want to make a difference and get frustrated at how complex we can make things. Hopefully, bringing all the rail people and projects into one place will help simplify and change the way things get done - for the better!

What’s your biggest career achievement to date?

Commissioning the first routes for the introduction of 125mph Tilting Trains in England, Wynyard Walk, a hat-trick in the Yorkshire League, or two 300 games (ten pin bowling) ... you decide.

    What was your last job?

This one, sort of ... I was previously the ED for Rail Delivery, which was broadly similar to my new role, but we’ve now fitted in the missing signalling parts of the rail projects jigsaw. Outside of rail or transport, my last job was working as a ground steward at Headingley Cricket Ground.

  • Meet John Hardwick, Executive Director, Asset Management, Safety, Environment and Regulation

John joins Safety, Environment and Regulation (SER) in the new role of Executive Director Asset Management.

What do you consider your biggest career achievement to date?

Choosing one is like choosing your favourite child, but I do have some that I can draw out, including the development of the division’s first Strategic Asset Management Plan and the implementation of full battery electric vehicles into Sydney division’s passenger fleet.

There are many other projects I’m proud that my division accomplished since I joined the organisation in April 2017

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

I’m thrilled that the importance of asset management has been acknowledged in the new structure and I am excited to heighten its status and inject a new level of enthusiasm into the team.

An initiative Rodd Staples has already asked me to focus on is recycling in asphalt. This great initiative will result in a positive impact on the environment – materials that would otherwise go to landfill will be put to good use!

    What was your last job?

Prior to joining SER, I was the Executive Director, Sydney (Roads) in the Greater Sydney division.
