  • Historic week – 1st meeting kicks off

It’s a big week for all of us at NSW TrainLink as we kick off our first independent bargaining meeting for our Enterprise Agreement.

On Thursday the bargaining team will be in Newcastle to meet with the unions and our independent bargaining representatives. The meeting is the first of many scheduled for the coming weeks around the state.

Before now, EAs were negotiated jointly with Sydney Trains which didn’t always give our people at NSW TrainLink the loudest voice. While we know that the unions would prefer that we bargain for a single enterprise agreement covering both NSW TrainLink and Sydney Trains, you’ve said that you’re excited about the chance to have a say about what’s important to you - excited about having an agreement designed by us, for us.

There’s no one size fits all approach. Having an agreement tailored to us and our needs working in regional NSW is a good thing for everyone.

So if you’re around Newcastle on Thursday look out for the team. They’re keen to catch up with everyone to answer questions and hear about the issues most important to you and the region!

  • Meet Jas!

Meet Jas, officially Jasmin Streimer. In her regular day job Jas is the Director Transformation and has been A/Director Service Experience & Planning. Add to that Jas is our lead negotiator for the Enterprise Agreement on behalf of NSW TrainLink. Soon you’ll get to see Jas out on the road with the team and sharing updates on how everything’s going. Here’s a little more info:

How long have you been at NSW TrainLink?

I joined Transport in November 2016 with Sydney Trains and moved across to NSW TrainLink in 2019. The people are great - I haven’t looked back!

What interested you about the role?

My passion is people. I’ve worked in Workplace Relations pretty much my whole career (don’t ask me how long that is!!). My purpose has always been about achieving the best outcomes for both the people and for the business. Improving the way we do things is really important to me as well as the outcome we achieve together.

What do you hope the Enterprise Agreement will achieve?

I’m truly excited about the future ahead for TrainLink. The agreement we’re working on will give our people more opportunities into the future and enable us to deliver better for our customers while maintaining what we love about being a part of this business. It’s a great focus and outcome for us!

Our bargaining team is made up of a network of people from across the state working in all different roles and at all different levels. That’s what makes it an agreement designed by us for us. Everyone will have a role to play in this agreement – something I'm really excited about. All of us in the team look forward to sharing more about the details with everyone over the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

Notice of Employee Representational Rights - NSW TrainLink Enterprise Agreement 2021

Last week we committed that within two weeks we would be providing you with the 'Notice of Employee Representational Rights’ (NERR). This notice confirms to you officially that the process for bargaining a new enterprise agreement has started. It also confirms your right to have a bargaining representative during the process and gives you the opportunity to nominate a bargaining representative of your choice.

    Download the NERR here.

What do I do if I want my union to represent me in bargaining?

If you are a member of the RTBU, ASU, APESMA (Professionals Australia) or another union that is entitled to represent your interests in relation to work performed under the agreement, and you want your union to be your bargaining representative, you do not have to do anything, your union will represent you in bargaining for the agreement.

What do I do if I want to represent myself in bargaining?

To appoint yourself as a bargaining representative for the agreement, you must confirm your appointment in writing to NSW TrainLink (see options below).

How do I appoint someone to represent me in bargaining?

If you want to appoint someone as your bargaining representative, you must notify that person in writing that you appoint them as your bargaining representative and provide a copy of that appointment to NSW TrainLink (see options below).

    Nominating made easy

To make it easy for you, we’ve developed a form. Simply:

    What happens next?

NSW TrainLink and bargaining representatives will discuss the timing and format of bargaining meetings. All meetings will be communicated in good time once confirmed.
