  • Welcome to our 2020 Humanitarian Cadets!

    supporting image

A very warm welcome to our newest intake of Humanitarian Cadets who started with Transport on Friday 28th August! We’re so excited to welcome these wonderful people to our ELTP family.
The Humanitarian Cadet Programs is a 12 month development program which provides meaningful, local Australian work experience for recently arrived refugees who come with extensive knowledge and experience in a variety of engineering and business areas. It's so great to have them on board and wonderful to have our Secretary, Rodd Staples, join the group to welcome them to our organisation!
We wish them the very best as they begin their careers with Transport!

  • 100% success rate for 2018 Humanitarian Cadets

    supporting image

The 2018 Humanitarian Cadet Program finished on 4 June 2019 and 100% of the Cadets won ongoing roles in the Transport cluster. This result could not be achieved without the commitment and determination of both the cadets and their placement managers. Thank you to everyone who participated in the program and well done for making it such a success!

  • Congratulations Diyar, Fawzi, Mohammed and Peter!

  • Humanitarian Cadet Program wins TfNSW Award!

    supporting image

Every year in December Transport for NSW holds Recognition Awards to celebrate the outstanding achievements of employees across the agency. The TfNSW Awards recognise people who demonstrate our values and deliver superior results, individually or part as a team. These awards provide an opportunity to identify and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our agency colleagues who contribute to making TfNSW a great place to work.

This year, the Humanitarian Cadet Program won the Award for 'Diversity and Inclusion'. You can read more about it on the TfNSW intranet. Of course, the program would not be a success without your hard work and active participation. Congratulations and thank you for your contribution to the program!

  • Congratulations Laith!

    supporting image

Congratulations to Laith Al-Azooz for winning a new role as Technical Specialist in the Maintenance Directorate of Sydney Trains! Laith brings extensive engineering experience from the public and private sectors in both Australia and Iraq. He'll transition off the program in early November.

Remember - you've got to be in it to win it. Be sure to monitor vacant positions on the I work for NSW website and apply for roles to get your foot in the door. Work with your program manager and the colleagues in your team for insights and support.

  • Interviews at Transport

    supporting image

Thanks for coming to the training about 'Interviews at Transport'. The presentation is saved here.

Familiarise yourself with Transport Interview Library. Prepare a response to 1 question per day. Remember to use the STAR method. Save your responses in an accessible location so you can refer to them in future job interviews. That way, when you start applying for jobs, you will have many detailed examples of work experience that you can speak about.

  • Check out the Service NSW LinkedIn page

Peter recently starred in a video on the Service NSW LinkedIn page. Congratulations Peter! The video also stars Omar Idbeis who was a Humanitarian Cadet in last year's program.

  • Cover Letters

Thanks for coming to the training about cover letters. The presentation is saved here.

Try to write 1 STAR plan and paragraph per day. Save them in an accessible location. That way, when you start applying for jobs, you will have many detailed examples of work experience that you can use in your cover letter.
