Wednesday 8 July 2020 - Consultation for corporate functions - one week to go

We have one week to go on our consultation about corporate functions and wanted to share some themes from the feedback so far.

To date, we have received over 260 pieces of feedback via the online feedback form and over 100 questions received through staff briefing sessions. We have answered your key questions on the Q&A page and encourage you to keep sending in your feedback.

Some of the key themes include:

  • Support for an integrated model – opportunities to align better business practices, systems and ways of working, while also reducing duplication
  • Concerns around an integrated model – concerns raised around centralisation of functions and service quality to operational business areas
  • Employee benefits and entitlements – clarity around what will happen to current entitlements if the proposal goes ahead
  • Scope of proposal – feedback on different business areas that should be in or out of scope.

We also want to acknowledge that this proposal is being made at a time when our people are already adapting to many changes and dealing with uncertainty. A lot of thought was put into if, and how, we should progress with this. Ultimately, we thought it was better to provide staff from Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink with the opportunity to be included in Evolving Transport now, so they can actively participate in the design process and shape an integrated service delivery model for our corporate functions.

If the proposal goes ahead, there will be more opportunities to provide feedback through the Evolving Transport design process and staff will be consulted on any proposed structures and changes to roles. We will also engage with relevant clients, customers and stakeholders through the design process to ensure we create a model that delivers better outcomes for our people and the community.

Consultation closes Wednesday 15 July

Please continue to submit your feedback using the online form. Consultation is open until 5pm, Wednesday 15 July.

All feedback is being reviewed by relevant divisional leaders, as well as the Chief Executives of Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink. Following consideration of all feedback, final decisions about the proposal will be announced at the end of July. In the meantime, service delivery continues as normal for all corporate functions.
