The Male Champions of Change

In November 2018, the Secretaries Board formed a NSW Government Male Champions of
Change coalition. As Secretary, Rodd Staples represents the cluster as the Transport ‘Male
Champion of Change’, and Jon Lamonte, Chief Executive of Sydney Metro, is the Cluster

Implementation Lead.

The Male Champions of Change is a globally recognised, innovative strategy to accelerate the
advancement of women in leadership and achieve gender equality. The premise of this strategy
is about men standing beside women to support gender equality.

The work of the coalition is backed by a proven methodology for increasing the representation
of women in organisations and, importantly, developing the conditions and cultures that enable
them to thrive. Many of the actions developed and implemented as part of the strategy, over
nearly 10 years, are now globally accepted standards for organisations wishing to become
employers of choice for all.

Originally founded in 2010 by Elizabeth Broderick, Former Australian Sex Discrimination
Commissioner, the MCC coalition now includes 230 CEO or board level leaders of all genders
across the world, covering every major sector of the economy.
