Why did the emu cross the road?

Because it was guided by one of our new crossing points!

The Woolgooga to Ballina Pacific Highway project team have been working hard to develop designated crossing points to ensure emu movements are maintained within habitat corridors.

The team have been trialling the emu fence where emus are regularly spotted and it appears that the initiative is working.

Take a look at the footage below which captures emus using the new crossings points.
