What is the Future Transport Technology Program?

Our program of work is underpinned by the Future Transport Technology Roadmap and sets the direction for Transport as a technology business.

Released by Minister Constance in April 2016, the Roadmap identifies the major technology trends that will shape the future of transport and, through our future transport scenarios; it looks at how people might respond to them. This fed into the development of five technology strategies that will allow us to meet those objectives.

The 5 technology strategies

1. Personalise customer interactions
2. Transform mass transit networks
3. Foster shared-use, on-demand services
4. Enable connected automated vehicle platforms
5. Create intelligent transport networks managed by data.

Who’s involved?

The Future Transport Technology team is made up of the following:

• Innovation Portfolio Management Office
• Transport Digital Accelerator

We work closely with the Open Data team, Digital Products and Services and across Transport to manage innovative ideas, uncover problem spaces and customer pain points, and leverage partnership opportunities with big players in the technology industry.
