R U OK?

Last week, I was lucky enough to spend the day with a bunch of great people on Rail R U OK? Day.

Rail R U OK? Day is an initiative between the harm prevention charities, R U OK? and TrackSAFE.

In the morning, I was with the team at the Clyde Hub including engineers, maintenance, track workers and office staff from Sydney Trains. I then spent time with the Rail Program Development and Operational Systems teams from TfNSW at Mascot. Lastly, I joined Pete Allaway and his team at NSW TrainLink for an afternoon tea focused on wellbeing.

It was great to hear our people talking about the importance of creating a really strong safety culture and focusing on health and wellbeing in particular. I also learnt more about the fantastic work they all do in all three agencies to keep our rail network running.

A key message from me from the day – reach out to your colleagues if you think they may be struggling. You may be able to help change that if you just start the conversation and find out how they’re doing. I know it’s helped me in the past.

A big thanks to everyone who helped make these events happen. I enjoyed talking to all. Hope you like the video and pictures and I look forward to meeting more of our great people across Transport.
