Pets of Transport - Meet Russell!

Russell was born and raised into an active family - and that's just the way he likes it. Between exploring his neighbour's backyard and getting out on Sydney's waters, the upbeat canine takes some time out to talk about cycling, his favourite walk spots and his human, Bill.

Pets of Transport: It’s so nice to meet you Russell; can you fill us in on what your human does at Transport?

Russell: No worries guys - I’ve always got time for a quick interview before my daily walk! My human Bill Young is a Stakeholder Engagement Officer at the Point to Point Transport Commission. The Point to Point Transport Commission is the industry regulator for taxis and hire vehicles right across the state and they're all about achieving safer point to point transport in NSW.

PoT: So, what’s the strangest or most interesting thing your human does?

R: On his days off, he enjoys taking his Hobie Mirage Island Tandem sailing kayak out on Sydney Harbour.

What can I say? The views are beautiful – but the BEST part is that it has a twin trampoline that I get to sit on! Admittedly, I like to stay up high so I don’t get my tail wet… we can’t have that.

He also cycles to work each day. I can’t ride a bike yet – but trust me, I’m working on it. Maybe one day I’ll even cycle in the Tour Dog France…

PoT: It’s been a pleasure speaking to you Russell. Lastly and most importantly, what do you get up to while your human is at work?

After breakfast, I like to take a stroll next door to spend the day with my neighbours - they’re artists. There's even a little doggie gate between our fences, so I can come and go as I please.

Then at lunch, my dog walker Mark comes and takes me for a walk. We either go to the park or maybe by the beach if the suns out – so yeah, I guess life is pretty good for me.
