I’ve posted a couple of photos from my recent visit to Parkes and Orange where I was able to drop in and meet our people from RMS, TfNSW and NSW TrainLink.
The RMS Regional Maintenance team in Orange were having their 2018 Safety and Induction Day, so I shared a few words and got stuck into the Q&A session, which was a highlight for me.
I visited the NSW TrainLink team at Orange Station, who obviously take great pride in looking after their beautiful heritage-listed station, and I found out more about what they’re doing to improve services for customers.
We also met with important stakeholders including the community transport provider LiveBetter. This organisation delivers services across the Central West region on behalf of TfNSW. They're currently providing a flexible transport trial that has set up a weekly day return service from the small town of Tottenham to Dubbo, so that customers to access services and medical facilities that are not available locally.
There was another round of meetings with representatives from Orange, Bathurst, Blayney and Parkes Councils to hear about opportunities in their local areas and to consider how we can better support residents and businesses.
We’re making good progress in building relationships with stakeholders in regional NSW. We have the right approach – listening and then working together to solve transport issues.
Our last stop before we travelled back to Sydney was to visit the RMS team at Parkes. Great afternoon tea!
