Contact tracing at Transport

As part of Transports approach to managing COVID-19 in the workplace there is a contact tracing process in place to help identify potentially exposed workers and allow us to take appropriate action. This is an important step in keeping our workplaces COVIDSafe and enabling us to break the chain of transmission through rapid identification and isolation.

How it works

All Transport employees are required to report to their line manager if they test positive to COVID-19. After being notified the manager fills out the COVID-19 Positive Cases form which identifies if the employee had attended a Transport workplace in the two days previous to testing positive, which would trigger the requirement for contact tracing.

  • If contact tracing is required, the reporting manager will then be prompted to fill out a separate contact tracing form. As part of this form, managers complete a short questionnaire for each workplace contact of the confirmed COVID-19 case.

  • The information collected in this form includes details such as;

  • if the contact spent time within 1.5m of the confirmed case

  • if they were wearing a mask

  • if they were in an enclosed space such as a meeting room etc.

  • This information along with data from other sources, such as Transport check-in, allows us to identify the workplace risk exposure level for each contact – low, moderate or high – and the next course of action for each contact.

  • Contacts identified through this process will then receive an email based on their risk determination, with advice as per the current NSW Health guidelines and Transport COVIDSafe measures in place.

  • Anyone who receives a contact tracing alert from Transport, and they believe their risk determination is incorrect, can contact TSS on 133 877 for further information.

Transport workplace contact example

Low

I had brief or distanced contact with a person with COVID-19

The contact attended the same Transport workplace on the same day as a confirmed COVID-19 case.

Moderate

I spent some time with a person who has COVID-19

The contact spent more than 15 minutes in a small meeting room (<100msq) with the confirmed COVID-19 case and both were wearing a mask.

High

I spent a long time with someone who has COVID-19

Or

I interacted closely with someone who has COVID-19 and we were not wearing masks

The contact spent more than 15 minutes in a small meeting room (<100msq) with the confirmed COVID-19 case and both were not wearing a mask.
