Movie Review

Crazy Rich Asians

Rachel Chu is a Chinese-American NYU economics professor who was raised by an immigrant single mother. Her boyfriend is none other than Nick Young, part of the Young family who are “old money” rich and basically own all the real estate on the island of Singapore.

Nick’s best friend is getting married so both he and Rachel are heading across the world to Singapore for the festivities and a massive family reunion. What could possibly go wrong?

Well… lots.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, Crazy Rich Asians has a wonderful cast, luxurious locations, witty jokes, and a heart-warming story. The movie illustrates the traditional ideologies of family, relationships and status, and questions whether love can really prevail in such a conventional society.

It’s the first contemporary English-language Hollywood block buster with an all-Asian cast in 25 years and it certainly lives up to its expectations.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout

The movie is the sixth instalment in the Mission Impossible film series, and follows on from the storyline in the 2015 Rogue Nation movie. The movie follows Ethan Hunt and his team on their mission to retrieve stolen parts that make up explosive mass nuclear weapons, before they end up into the wrong hands. Throughout their mission, Hunt and his team come across some friendly allies, featuring past characters and connecting previous story lines.

Director Christopher McQuarrie has packed this instalment with plenty of thrilling action and cliff-hanging scenes that leaves viewers at the edge of their seat.

Grab your friends and family and make sure to catch these movies in cinemas before it’s gone!
