Wednesday 8 April 2020 – Evolving Transport News

Welcome to the first edition of Evolving Transport News, your guide to what is happening in the world of Evolving Transport. In every edition you will hear news and key updates from across the 13 workstreams that make up our program of transformation.

As part of our overall business response to Coronavirus we have decided to put Stage 1 organisational design temporarily on pause. The teams are working hard on a revised approach and schedule, and we will send through more information in the next few weeks. There have also been some changes to Future Workplace moves. Visit the Future Workplace website for more information.

The remaining 12 workstreams in the transformation program will continue as planned as we find new ways to continue delivering in this environment. We have already made a lot of progress across the program and as things continue to change, we have an opportunity to innovate and potentially accelerate some of our work.

'Our key messsage is to keep moving and focus on what you can do right now.'

All you need to know about asset management

John Hardwick, Executive Director of Asset Management, tells us all about what we are doing in the asset management workstream in this three minute video.

Take a look at John's video explanation.

We are moving online

The Evolving Transport workstream teams are responding to the challenges of Coronavirus by exploring new ways to involve our people and stakeholders during this time.

The current environment has given us an opportunity to explore the various online and digital engagement tools and opportunities that are available to us. We will continue to engage our people and keep delivering over the coming weeks and months, putting in place some of the frameworks and enterprise processes that will be a key part of the recovery phase.

Encouraging more opportunities to engage with our people throughout the delivery of these workstreams creates a number of benefits:

  • Unlocking solutions we might not have seen before
  • Brings underlying assumptions to the surface so these can be addressed
  • Stimulates creativity and broad thinking beyond what we know
  • Focuses intention, attention and energy on our common goals – be that improving asset management, safety, environmental performance, or how we measure success at Transport.

There are lots of effective and free and ways to engage with people even if we are physically apart. We will keep you updated about how to stay involved in Evolving Transport.
