Equip yourself

What is Equip?

Equip integrates the HR, payroll, finance, procurement and portfolio/project management functions across the cluster into one easily accessible hub. For an ELTP participant’s purposes, Equip is an online tool that allows you to access self-services such as requesting leave, checking your payslips and requesting any training and development programs you may wish to attend.

How do you access Equip?

Find the light blue Equip icon on your desktop, or access Equip from the TfNSW intranet front page.

How do you use Equip?

Equip is used for accessing payslips, travel and expenses, and all leave applications with the exception of flex. ELTP have developed process documents for these actions which can be found on Talent HQ here. Another particular use for Equip is the Performance and Development tile where you can access training sessions. In order to participate in these sessions, participants need to seek approval from their manager and send this through to the ELTP team. If the skills are Project or team specific, these sessions will require the team cost centre. However, if skills are transferable, this will be charged to the ELTP’s cost centre. Reviews of training courses

In reading through these reviews, please keep in mind that Transport adopts the 70-20-10 approach. While the training session teaches you the theory and provides demonstrations and practices, it is important that these applications are practised regularly to retain targeted skills.

TfNSW Objective is a documentation system used within TfNSW to manage and store corporate documents. New users to the system are highly recommended to attend the course, which covers:

  • Creating file dividers
  • Adding documents from external sources
  • Moving objects using the move utility
  • Document Version Control
  • Saving and managing Emails
  • Searching for files

While Objective is straightforward to pick up through day to day use, there are certain additional tips and tricks that the instructor will share with you throughout the session that can assist your work flow, such as linking Objective to your Outlook mail.

Microsoft Office 365
PowerPoint Introduction - Intermediate

PowerPoint is largely used for presentations during meetings such as debriefs and workshops. Due to the user-friendly nature of the program, the training notes the basics, but focuses on aesthetic presentation skills for PowerPoint like creating icons, editing images and inserting short clips. For more advanced tricks, master slide is taught, where participants learn to create their own slide templates.

Excel Advanced

Microsoft Excel is used largely for storing analytics and is used widely across Transport for generating reports. This training session breaks down the use of pivot tables, v-lookup and h-lookup functions, as well as pre-recording commands through macros.

Project Management

Project Management is one of the most complex programs in Microsoft Office 365. The instructor takes you through correcting dates, creating Gantt charts, adjusting timelines according to real time events, and also goes into monitor costing. The course is quite intense and spans over two days. While useful, taking this course is only recommended if you have access to the program and are able to practise using it on a regular basis.
