Driverless Taxis are being trialled in Dubai

There’s been a lot of talk in recent years about driverless car technology. Dubai is now taking the next step, trialling drone taxi technology.

The drones will be capable of carrying one passenger and one suitcase. All the passenger needs to do is get in the drone and tap their destination on a touch screen. The drone then does the rest via a remote control from a central command centre. The drone taxis will fly passengers on predetermined routes throughout the city, serving as more of a sky shuttle service than a true go-anywhere taxi.

And with Uber looking to have manned flying cars, and then possibly autonomous vehicles of their own, your Saturday night out with friends could soon be ending with a drone trip home.
