Award winning innovation!

We’re proud to announce that we have received the inaugural Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative (ADVI) Innovation Award for our work in accelerating the safe and successful introduction of driverless vehicles to Australian roads. This award recognises a wide range of achievements and milestones from various teams across the cluster, including:

  • Setting the long term vision for driverless in our Future Transport Strategy
  • Establishing legislation to allow trials of automated vehicles on NSW roads, and
  • Creating industry partnerships to enable trials and research accelerating driverless technology.

The award recognises not only innovation in automated vehicles, but importantly, the collaborative effort required from both industry and government to deliver these initiatives.

A big congratulations goes out to a number of teams - including the Transport Policy Branch, Smart Innovation Centre, Future Transport, Centre for Road Safety, Legal Services, Innovation, Research and Reform, Roads and Maritime Services and Crashlab - for working together to make this happen.

The award was presented by The Honourable Melinda Pavey, Minister for Roads, Ports and Freight and Rita Excell, Executive Director, ADVI.
