April ELTP Updates

2020 Induction Highlights

We recently welcomed 120 new Graduates, Cadets, Scholars and VET Cadet Surveyors to Transport . Many thanks to the hardworking Entry Level Talent Programs (ELTP) team for providing an engaging two weeks which included a Hackathon, Guest Speakers and development sessions. They also used song and dance to help explain some of the finer details on timesheets, railway safety, e-mail and phone etiquette Check out the Induction Highlights video here.

Telstra Masterclass

Graduates and Cadets were invited to attend a workshop at Telstra Headquarters in George Street Sydney, covering an array of new technologies that Telstra and associated companies have invested in. The seminar focused on Vehicle to Anything (V2X) autonomous vehicles and interesting applications of machine learning.

During his seminar, John McGiffin, the CEO of Deep Recognition, demonstrated the power of Machine Learning to streamline the petabytes of data that Transport’s Mass surveillance already collects. He provided a fascinating example of the ease with which his software allows anyone with access to enough cameras to track people throughout a city. As transport becomes an increasingly digitised and analysed space, it’s important to consider how we can manage the data we collect without compromising the privacy of our customers.

Time to start thinking about your mid-placement review!

We have now completed our initial PDP and it’s almost time to start considering our mid-placement review. Are you on track to reach your goals on time? Make sure you are recording your day to day work to make it easier on yourself when it comes time for your second PDP meeting.
