YPN - Visit to Western Sydney Airport Experience Centre

On Wednesday 25 September, a small group from Transport’s Young Professional Network visited the Western Sydney International Airport Experience Centre.

At the Experience Centre, they were taken through a series of interactive stop overs where they learned more about the Western Sydney region, its people, the history and the opportunities that will come from Australia’s first world-class smart airport.

Visual Augmentation (VR) stations gave a clear view of the future airfield and made the airport come to life. Did you know that the airport site is about 1,780 hectares – almost twice the size of the Sydney (Kingsford Smith) Airport, and has been preserved for airport development for nearly 30 years?

Sydney Metro is expected to link St Marys to the new Western Sydney International Airport. The construction of the airport will commence as early as 2022, and is anticipated to service ten million passengers a year when it opens in 2026!

The Western Sydney International Experience Centre is currently open to the public for free on Monday to Thursday (10am-4pm).
