Working together to deliver results for our communities and customers – fast!

Tough new penalties were announced by the government in February – anyone caught driving over the alcohol limit will lose their licence on the spot – and by May, they were live!

This mammoth task in just a matter of months required agility and dedication and was achieved through great collaboration across our Transport cluster and across government. The Centre for Road Safety collaborated with Legal, Road Safety Campaigns and Roads and Maritime Services to ensure that this complex initiative was implemented to achieve real outcomes for the people of NSW.

Close working with NSW Police and Safer Communities (formerly Justice) also meant policy, systems and processes were completely overhauled to ensure enforcement of the new laws were achievable as quickly as possible.

It’s all part of working Towards Zero and delivering on our Road Safety Plan 2021, and a great example of our people working together to deliver results for our communities and customers. Well done to everyone involved!
