Global Transport planning guru Richard de Cani shared his insights with TfNSW staff recently, including his experience as chief planner for Transport for London (TfL). Richard spoke in depth on the opportunities and challenges of long term transport planning , touching on his industry experience and how TfL and other agencies in London are looking to the future.

It’s all part of our research into best practice and learning from other global cities as we develop our Future Transport strategy for the next 40 years.

The bright sparks of the Transport cluster were out in force last week as four more project teams showcased their innovative work from the latest round of the Future Transport Innovation Incubator program.

An app that guides you away from the crowds and to a less crowded train. Sound interesting? Fresh from the Future Transport Innovation Incubator, one project team is working on helping 3rd party app developers do just that.

Imagine being 100 kilometres from your nearest town without access to public transport! It seems incredible to some, but it's an issue that many people from regional and rural towns across NSW face on daily basis.

Thankfully there's light at the end of the tunnel as a new flexible transport solution goes on trial in the small west state town of Tottenham.

What will transport look like in your local area in the next 20-40 years? That was the question put to local staff in Dubbo and Grafton last week as part of the Future Transport regional roadshow.
