Self testing kits (identified workers only)

This web page is only for workers taking part in the Self-Testing Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Kit program. Site managers and workers taking part will be notified directly.*

Transport has commenced a Self-Testing RAT program for priority assessed workers.

We’re conducting this program to provide an additional level of protection to our workers by minimising the chances of COVID-19 cases entering our workplaces. These are additional safety measures for priority assessed workers.

If you’re not sure if your role is included in the program, please speak with your leader.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Transport commencing the pilot?

The roll out of Self-Testing RAT Kits to identified workers homes provides a higher level of protection and is an additional safeguard to minimise the chance of infected workers, contractors and visitors attending Transport workplaces.

What are the next steps for site managers taking part in the pilot?

Information will be provided directly to site managers and leaders as the program commences throughout February.

How do I record results?

You need to log the results of each test on the Transport RAT reporting form. Anyone participating in the Self-Testing RAT Kits program MUST use the RAT Reporting Form as it is a mandatory aspect of the program and is a part of the governance. Not using the form means the RATs are not being used properly and will be counted as such.

Do I need to lodge a non-negative RAT result with Transport and Service NSW?

Yes. Anyone who gets a non-negative RAT must follow NSW Health guidelines and submit your test result in the Service NSW app. This is an addition to the Transport RAT reporting form - for assistance using this form, refer to the Self-Testing RAT Kit reporting process.

Will I be paid for completing a RAT?

No. Workers will not be paid to complete a RAT.

Why is the worksite testing process changing so often?

Transport’s process aligns with NSW Health advice which is evolving with the current situation in NSW. We are committed to finding the best way to keep our people safe in a rapidly changing health environment.

Why are self-testing kits not being distributed to all Transport workers?

An assessment has been done to identify roles that should be prioritised for participation in the Self-Testing RAT Program that are required to keep Transport going during difficult times and maintain our critical roles in moving people and goods around NSW.

This criteria included safety critical roles, exposure to vulnerable members of the community, business criticality and resilience, commercial risk, safety of assets and significant potential impacts to transport services.

Roles will continue to be assessed in line with this priority assessment criteria.

Who is considered a ‘priority assessed worker’?

Transport has worked closely with NSW Health to identify workers for this program where the roles have met Transport's criteria and the impacts of COVID-19 are likely to be significant to ongoing business operations and/or there is a high possibility of workplace transmission due to the nature of the roles or workplace.

Priority assessed roles may change throughout the program and RATs may be redistributed to support other business areas.

How do we manage workers who want to take part in the program but are not eligible?

We understand that there may be interest from across Transport to take part in the program. At this stage, we are prioritising the distribution of Self-Testing RAT Kits to priority assessed roles across Transport to ensure ongoing business continuity.

Transport’s COVIDSafe plan is designed to keeping all its workers safe. All staff are expected to continue following these measures, including wearing masks when required, regularly sanitising or washing hands and maintaining physical distancing where possible.
