Pets of Transport - Meet Archie!

When we met with Archie Spencer, it was just a few moments before walk time and the peppy pup was boisterous as ever. To help calm his nerves, he was dropping casual hurry-up hints to his owners. Between the very audible whinges and despairing lonely looks, you’d never know that the cheeky chocolate lab actually gets a walk every morning.

And that’s exactly why we caught up with the man, the myth, the lounge chewer – to delve deeper into his love of walking and learn more about his human, Keira.

PoT: Archie! The man, the myth, the lounge chewer himself; it’s great to have you! Can you tell us about what your human does at Transport?

A: My human Keira works as an Assistant Corporate Communications Officer at Transport for NSW. That means she writes a bunch of stuff for the intranet, for The Buzz and for LinkedIn.

Oh – and for Transport Mode! The latest edition wasn’t a bad read if I do say so. Check it out if you haven’t already.

Wait, can I add that you’re writing this interview right now? No..? Okay, I’m getting a firm no. Can we uh, take that comment off the record please?

PoT: Oh wow Transport Mode, huh? Very nice. So can you give us the inside scoop, tell us something interesting about your human?

A: My human has been at Transport for NSW since she was just 18 when she joined the Scholar Program. Actually, when I think about it.... that means she's been around for almost 28 dog years now.

She also likes to go for the occasional run. She tries to tell me “I’m too slow to go with her” – but don't worry – I let her know that she’s actually “just scared of the fierce competition”.

PoT: So when the fam isn't around at home, what do you get up to?

A: Well, that’s a tough one. I like to think that I’m the kind of guy who refuses to tie himself down to just one or two hobbies, you know? There’s so much to see out there… so much to sniff.

But at the moment I’m really enjoying a spot of interior decorating. I’ve been told I’ve got a real eye for it, I don't want to brag but you can see some of my latest work below.
