Transport around the world - The Øresund Bridge

The Øresund Bridge is a combined railway and motorway bridge across the Øresund strait between Sweden and Denmark.

The bridge runs nearly 8 km from the Swedish coast to the artificial island, Peberholm, in the middle of the strait. Supporting both cars and trains as they pass between Denmark and the southern tip of Sweden, the Øresund Bridge transitions into the Drogden tunnel as the road and railway dip beneath the waves.

Today the bridge is the longest combined automobile and rail bridge in Europe, despite being half-tunnel.
