There’s nothing bore-ing about Sydney Metro

We’re one step closer to seeing the 15.5km Sydney Metro Southwest tunnel from Chatswood to Sydenham start coming to life! Last weekend the first of five mega tunnel borers arrived to extend Sydney Metro under the city centre.

Due to its massive size, it could only travel at night and needed a police escort to get to our Marrickville launch site – where the 1,100 tonne boring machine will be assembled and launched. It arrived in eight shipping containers and some of the 23 separate pieces were so big they didn’t fit into a container and had to be delivered on truck trailers with 68 wheels!
