Keeping you in the OD Loop Issue #44

Hi everyone,

While Cary has been busy sunning herself on a well-deserved break at luxury resorts in Singapore and Malaysia, I have been given the honour of putting together this week’s
OD Loop.

I’ve been told that you lot prefer this to be succinct and in bullet format. Well, we’ll see how we go, there’s a lot to get through and I rarely get to the point quickly, so please pay attention.

Hi everyone,

While Cary has been busy sunning herself on a well-deserved break at luxury resorts in Singapore and Malaysia, I have been given the honour of putting together this week’s

Safety moment
At the Leadership Team meeting this week we talked about the curse of the smartphone and the real safety dangers that arise when people crawl into their device and fail to focus on the real world. This video neatly illustrates the point.

Notes from the boss

  • We are developing a high priority PaCS delivery plan for 2017-18. The OD LT has been working with HR and IR to develop a list of priority projects that we will deliver over this new FY. Elizabeth Mildwater will make the final call on what’s in and what’s not over the next few weeks.
  • OD featured prominently on the agenda of last week’s People and Culture Executive committee meeting with a presentation on the D&I strategy for 2017-18 and a good discussion around the development of a new People Strategy.
  • Argy bargy on the Budget continues – it’s close, watch this space.
  • Jane Ridley, our new Executive Director Strategy and Transformation, is here. One of Jane’s first tasks is to set about transforming our reforming recruitment process – revolution not evolution.

Building upgrades at Petersham
You’d have to have been hiding under a rock if you haven’t noticed workmen banging about at the training centre. Lockers have been installed; the trainers are now officially free-ranging!

Solving our car park dramas
Thank you to everyone who completed the car park survey, awesome ideas, we are now in solution mode. More info to follow.

Setting the standard!
Well done to Fiona Love and her team for launching the new Engineering Capability Framework for the Transport cluster.

The framework outlines three capabilities that define the additional knowledge, skills and abilities required for roles within the engineering profession. It’s all about providing a consistent approach to setting capability standards. The team worked with many groups across the cluster and the end result is something to be really proud of and will be used for many years to come - not only across Transport but the entire NSW Public Sector. Great stuff, guys!

Staying Connected hub launched

Our new Staying Connected hub launched recently to extend the support we provide to people before, during and after returning from parental leave.

One of the great things is that people don’t need network access to visit the hub, which can be problematic when you’re on leave.

We’ve already had almost 400 hits to the new website, including over 80 to the managers’ section – BOOM! Well done to the D&I team and Internal Comms for a fantastic joint effort in launching this cool site.
